This movie is a remake of the 1976 version by Stanislaw Lem. I have yet to see the original, which is terrible.
I have always liked this movie, but was drawn to the soundtrack more than the movie itself.
This was the first time I heard Cliff Martinez and have used the music in this movie to lull me to sleep countless times.
The movie is ethereal and deals with mild sci fi weirdness when an exploration crew goes silent on a space station orbiting the planet Solaris.
It doesn't do a swan dive into weirdness or anything, and glosses over most of the why and what, and preferred to deal more with human reaction to the unknown.
